Figurative Sculpture: The Seated Pose

Figurative Sculpture: The Seated Pose image
The seated pose is a classic in art history – it is contemplative and serene. This class is for anyone interested in figurative art – you do not need any experience. For two classes, we will have a model, and you’ll have time to draw the pose, and make a maquette for the finished piece. Artist-in-Residence Zara Davis will share tips and techniques for creating the final work as you work from home. August 11 is the last day to work wet; we will have a 2 week break to allow you to bring your finished piece in to the studio. We will fire it, and meet together (in socially-distanced groups) to do the final surface decorations. The art kit will contain all supplies; materials and firing are included in the class fee.

*Those registering will be contacted to come and pick up their art kit at the studio. This class is a hybrid. The students will come to the Center to pick up their art kit; they will have the classes in the comfort of their homes, and meet in the studio only to glaze their finished work. Arrangements can be made for students unwilling to come to the Center.
