Explore various aspects of photographing at twilight and at night. Students will practice night photography outdoors as a group at various locations. Learn special tips for making images at night like the use of filters, tripod, cable release and the camera’s self timer. Discover how to calculate long exposures using a hand-held light meter and use various light sources to fill in shadows and for special effects. ISO, exposure and noise issues will be discussed as well as composition and special considerations when shooting after dark. Work will be shared during the third and the last class.
Required: Working knowledge of your camera (film or digital SLR/Mirrorless), a tripod and the ability to share your images with the class ie: thumb drive, photographic prints or images emailed to the instructor.
