RISO: Bookmaking

Have you ever wanted to publish your own book, start to finish? In this class, students will learn how to do just that! Evan Bobrow will guide students through content conceptualization as well as text and imagery selection and preparation. Technical aspects of self-publishing will of course be addressed by Evan, including color separations, and digitizing and formatting the work for print. Students will print their books on our in-house Risograph printer. Post-printing, students will be guided through trimming and, lastly, binding their books with the saddle stitch technique!

By the end of this class, students will walk away with an edition of 10, 5”x7” books. Each book will be 16 pages long and printed in 2 colors. Included: $45 materials fee. Students will be encouraged to work outside of class. InDesign and Photoshop experience recommended.
