Figure Sculpture

This class will take a look at modern and historical representations of the figure in art. Students will spend the first four weeks of the class sculpting small scale representations of the figure from life and reference images. In the second half of the class students will learn a variety of hand building techniques and surface treatments to create a complementary 3D canvas for figurative illustration. This class would be appropriate for beginners to clay. Included: a bag of studio clay, 25 pounds of free firing, and access to the studio during the Open Studio hours.
