When Words Meet Pictures

When Words Meet Pictures image
Words and pictures are seen together everywhere - online, on billboards, on menus, in artwork. In this class, we will see examples and learn how many different artists have used images and text together. We will make projects that experiment with different combinations of images and text - both found and self generated - to tell dynamic new stories. Students will incorporate text into the making or presentation of their photographs, using techniques that may include photo essaying, digital manipulation, simple juxtaposition, or creative titles and captions. What is the relationship between a photograph and its caption, or its title, or the text inside the frame? How does one influence the other? Which is the most important?
