In this class, you’ll explore an emerging artistic practice that blends digital 3D design with photography, using a process called LiDAR scanning to transform real-world objects into three-dimensional digital models. Along the way, you’ll learn how to properly scan objects using your smartphone, gain basic proficiency in navigating a digital 3D workspace, and develop foundational skills in editing, lighting, and rendering your models. These models will then be used to create immersive digital landscapes and environments.
The course uses free, accessible software, making it easy to continue your creative work beyond the classroom. While no prior experience is required, basic familiarity with using an iMac is recommended.
Required: Bring a iPhone, iPad, or Android device for scanning objects.
