Intro to Audio Engineering offers a clear, hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of live sound. You’ll learn essential terminology while getting practical experience with both analog and digital mixers.
Together, we’ll explore the basics of mixing, equalizing, and recording live audio, as well as best practices for microphone placement, using effects, working with in-ear monitoring systems, and navigating common software options. We’ll take some behind-the-scenes field trips to local venues to see and work with professional audio systems at live shows.
This course is ideal for solo artists, emerging audio engineers, and anyone interested in mixing or recording live performances—whether in churches, music venues, theaters, or your own creative practice.
Equipment used in class includes the Zoom L-20 Mixer, Soundcraft UI24, and Behringer X-32.
