In this advanced photography class we will consider questions pertaining to borders and boundaries to develop a photo project around this theme.
How do we identify the boundaries of our homes and communities? How do we mark the edges of these spaces we inhabit and determine whether or not someone or something is included?
We will spend the first half of this course using our cameras to explore the borders and boundaries of our everyday lives, whether they are physical or cultural, explicit or invisible. We will workshop our preliminary images in virtual group meetings and students will narrow their focus during the second half of the course to create a concise and cohesive series of photographs.
Prerequisite: Must have a strong working knowledge of the camera and its functions. Students may use film or digital, as long as they are able to present digital files at each virtual class meeting.
