Come visit the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum for a guided tour with the Exhibition Curator of two solo exhibitions by exceptional contemporary artists. "Autoethnography" features work by Sharif Bey and showcases the diversity of the artist's utterly unique practice. Included are selections of functional pots, sculptural vessels, "protest shields" and monumental wall pieces from his "Adornment" series, all of which borrow elements from multiple African cultures while also referencing Bey's own life experience in Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Also on view is "Fihankra (You did not say goodbye when you left home)," with work by Eugene Ofori Agyei. Agyei was the Turner Teaching Fellow at Alfred, during which time he created this novel body of mixed-media "assemblages" that reflect the artist's hybrid identity resulting from his complex journey from his homeland of Ghana to his current life in the United States.
