Exploring Historic Canopic Jars

Exploring Historic Canopic Jars image
This class combines wheel and handbuilding techniques to create your own version of Canopic jars. These historic Egyptian vessels come in sets of four, so you will have the materials to make that number. This class is for those with Intermediate wheel experience! The first two sessions are devoted to throwing and trimming your jars, and are taught by Andy Foster. The next three sessions focus on sculpting the lids and glazing. This is a unique opportunity to work with two masters in the fields of handbuilding and wheel throwing, and to make a unique set of work using these combined skills. The class comes with 20 pounds of clay and firing, and open studio hours.
