Fine Arts: Intro to Pastel Painting image

PASTELS -- those beautiful sticks of pure color, create exciting, fun, and expressive works of art. Through informational discussions, demonstrations, and plenty of opportunities for experimentation, students will learn about the incredible versatility of pastels. Areas to be covered include pastel painting techniques, design concepts, tricks of the trade, safety, storage, and framing.

MATERIALS LIST:

(Please bring the following supplies to your first class. They can be purchased at Michaels, Rochester Art Supply, or online.)

- Soft pastels (the Faber-Castell to start). If you already own pastels, bring what you have.

- Pastel paper - on the first class, we will provide Mi Tientes paper and some sample sanded paper. If you have any papers, please bring them with you.

- Drawing board or a plain piece of masonite.

- Drafting or masking tape. We recommend white artist's tape, not blue painter's tape.

- Baby wipes

- Pencil & eraser

- Reference photos
