This course offers an introduction to the Kallitype photographic process, including its historical background. Students will create Kallitype prints using their own images from negatives produced ahead of class. By the final session, participants will be proficient in coating paper, exposing negatives, and developing, toning, and fixing prints.
The instructors will email registered students one week ahead of the class to collect images for digital negative making.
Instructors Jen and Nancy, experienced practitioners trained at the Flower City Arts Center, have exhibited their work and shared their expertise in local artist talks. This course provides an opportunity to learn from their years of experience.
Previous darkroom experience is helpful. Experience with alternative processes is helpful but not required. Materials Fee included: $40 (includes all necessary supplies: chemistry, paper, and digital negative production).
