Explore various aspects of photographing at twilight and at night. Students will practice night photography outdoors as a group at various locations. Learn techniques for making images at night, like using filters, tripod, cable release, and the camera’s self-timer. Discover how to calculate long exposures using a hand-held light meter and use various light sources to fill in shadows and for special effects. We will discuss ISO, exposure, noise issues, composition, and special considerations when shooting after dark. A supportive work-share will be held during the last class.
Required: Working knowledge of your camera (film or digital SLR/Mirrorless), a tripod, and the ability to share your images with the class i.e.: thumb drive, photographic prints, or images emailed to the instructor.
