This class focuses on the in and outs of writing for the screen and emphasizes the technical and structural aspects of screenwriting to help students understand the basics. Students will learn to write in a way that allows readers to “see” the movie and tv pilot unfold on the page through formatting and the three act structure. We will view and analyze film clips in class to help deepen understanding of structure, pacing, and cinematic storytelling. We will also read portions of movie and tv scripts to get a better understanding of format and effective dialogue.
