Street Photography

A longstanding genre in the photographic world, Street Photography blends art and journalism to document our lives and society as a whole. In this course, we will explore the works of historic and contemporary street photographers before venturing out on field trips to photograph our own communities.

Getting out with a camera encourages us to slow down, walk, observe, and take in the stories and moments happening around us. We’ll enjoy the social experience of photographing together while also developing our individual perspectives and confidence. In class, we will discuss and share techniques, practices, gear knowledge and share some of the best images captured on our local field trips. Any portable camera is welcome, including cell phones.
