Street Photography is a longstanding genre in the photographic world that blends art and journalism to document humanity as we go about our daily lives. Many well known photographers have photographed on the streets in large cities. For those of us in upstate New York, we recognize that the many small towns and villages that surround us can offer countless image possibilities. In this course, we will explore the works of historical and contemporary street photographers, and apply the principles to our area. Two field trips within 30 minutes from the city or Rochester to towns like Fairport and Honeoye Falls will allow us to visit and photograph as a group and see what we see.
Any portable camera is welcome, including cell phones. Students must provide their own transportation.
