Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Location: Flower City Arts Center, 713 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, New York 14607;

Job Summary: We are seeking a creative storyteller with a passion for the arts, with skills and experience in engaging communities with communications, marketing, and social media. They will be an integral and collaborative part of a dynamic team of artists, educators, and others in a warm, friendly Arts Center setting. This dynamic role requires a person who loves crafting compelling content and building relationships. Publicizing the art center’s community programs, classes, and events, this position will be responsible for public-facing relations and management of the visual branding across all platforms of promotion as a key member of the team, working closely with and supervised by the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create an overarching marketing strategy and plan for the organization that supports the Center’s strategic plan; tell the narrative of the Center; understand the intersection of the financial and creative needs
- Manage social media - tell the story of the community and programs at Flower City Arts Center with compelling content
- Use of design, photography, and video to create content in alignment with visual branding, including photo and video coverage at events, openings, and occasional classes
- Act as liaison for web developer and designer for content and managing website changes
- Post and manage class listings online, advertising, and print distributions
- Coordinate Center-wide advertising, print media, and distribution
- Database management
- Analytics - tracking metrics of website, newsletters, event information, etc.
- Represent FCAC at networking events – neighborhood and city-wide
- Employ consistent visual, verbal, and written communication skills to convey the voice and vision of Flower City Arts Center and share it effectively, highlighting key facets of the community in press releases to relevant news outlets
- Build and organize photo/asset library
- Work with the Executive Director and Development Director to create appeals and reports
Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Visual and written storyteller - convey the voice and vision of Flower City Arts Center and share it effectively, capturing the human interest elements
- Demonstrate a high dedication to customer service
- Highly skilled at building a Center content calendar
- Knowledge of website management and social media platforms
- Knowledge of marketing software and programs, such as Constant Contact
- Skills in photography, graphic design, video, and written and verbal communications
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with staff interdepartmentally, Center members, students, renters, and collaborative community partners; good balance between being team-oriented and independent
- Professionally represent the organization in the community, at meetings, festivals, public events, and with the media, etc.
- Ability to multitask, be organized enough to manage a variety of projects, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Design, Arts, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Strong experience in marketing, public relations, social media, and communications in the not-for-profit or arts sectors (3-5 years)
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Pay Range: $19-$22 / hour
