"An Evening with Potters from Mata Ortiz, Mexico"

Join us for a lecture and slide presentation by Claire Willis of the Rochester Folk Art Guild as she shares her experiences living and working with a community of potters in Mata Ortiz, Mexico. Then, stay and watch four of the artists from Mata Ortiz as they work in our studios that evening demonstrating their skills in forming, painting and burnishing pots inspired by the ancient pottery of northern Mexico. Stunning, original work by the artists, Ismael Flores, Maria Loya, Monico Corona and Ana Trillo, will be on exhibit and available for sale in The Gallery at Genesee Pottery from Thursday, June 15 Saturday, June 24. The event is open to the public. A donation of $5.00 at the door will assist with the artists travel expenses. Dessert pot-luck. Please bring a sweet treat to share.
