Volunteers at Community Darkroom have re-imagined works of art by the likes of Georgia OKeeffe, Frida Kahlo, and others in their own photographs in an exhibit entitled Conversations with Artists.
Photo remakes are a unique form of artwork that draws inspiration from an existing piece--mostly paintings, but also photographs, poetry, and sculpture and reimagine that piece as a new photograph. The purpose is not to create an identical copy of the original, but to recreate its mood, its message, and sometimes to add a layer of personal interpretation, creating something deeper.
