Global Perspectives is an exploration of cultural identity that consists of ceramic work created by both refugee teens in America and international artists. Photographs of craftspeople taken by Amicucci during her research will also be displayed.
Curator Jaimianne Amicucci worked with refugee students for almost two years and traveled to Bhutan, Nepal, Tanzania, and Ethiopia researching the regional pottery traditions. The exhibition will provide viewers with the opportunity to share her journey and enjoy the rich authentic traditions of ceramic pottery.
Jaimianne Amicucci is an MFA graduate student of the Curatorial Practice Program at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
