Made in Honor is a companion program to the new artist talk series, Visual Voices, to be hosted by Julie Chen and Tove Phillips at Flower City Arts Center.

An evening of sharing, listening and creating in a safe space for vulnerability and remembrance. This art-making activity is derived from circle altar ceremonies. We invite participants to bring a small keepsake or totem of significance to share their thoughts and stories, while braiding a colorful web together.

Space and materials will be provided for creating artworks both individually and collectively, acknowledging grief in commemoration.

Each participant will take home a braided piece of the collaborative weaving to keep as a new totem or to burn in ceremony.

15 seats are available for this program at no cost thanks to the generous support of the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
