Reception: Friday November 6th, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. in Community Darkroom Gallery

Route 31 is a group photography exhibition featuring work created by members of the Flower City Arts Center Photography Collective.

Route 31 was chosen as a shared theme for its potential to inspire a variety of aesthetic approaches and technical choices. Throughout 2026, members explored and photographed along this evolving historic roadway. During collective meetings, members participated in facilitated, intention-based critiques that provided opportunities for thoughtful dialogue and shared ideas around the refinement of their work.

The open-ended theme allowed each photographer to develop their own approach to Route 31, resulting in images that reveal varied and sometimes unexpected ways of seeing along this road.

Route 31 is a 209-mile-long east/west state highway located north of the Finger Lakes Region, running parallel to Lake Ontario. The western end of Route 31 is at an intersection with NY 104 in the city of Niagara Falls. The eastern end is at a traffic circle with NY 26 in Vernon Center.
