Come and hear as Judy Gregory, a noted local paper sculpture artist, describes her "Uncertain Journey". Judy's works have been included in major exhibitions at the Memorial Art Gallery as well as other museums and galleries from Albany to Chatauqua. She has spent her career creating and sharing her work. Hear her words: "As a visual artist, I have spent the last several years exploring the use of words and text as inspiration for my sculptural and wall-hung pieces. Much of this work is approached in the manner of a visual poet ...analyzing and weighing each word, not for sound and cadence but for the tangible form its ambiguous meanings might reveal. I often work with hand-cast paper ...sheets of paper I've made from a pulp of cotton linters, which are saturated with acrylic polymers to toughen them and make them water resistant, and colored with washes of acrylic paint. Other "media" frequently part of my work are found objects ....anything from a scrap of rusty metal to a stem of dried roses." And see her work.
