Momento Gaudium: Signa Vitae
Momento Gaudium: Signa Vitae is the work of Artists-in-Residence Zara Davis and Karlene Kantner. Translated to Remember Joy: Signs of Life, the show features paintings on ceramic tiles, vessels, and figurative sculpture with themes of joy, pain, strength, and new beginnings.
Zara Davis' figure sculpture and paintings use floral symbolism and mythology to connect expressions of life, death, and the sublime. Kantner's textured ceramic vessels and floral designs welcome the audacity of life, and the joy of growth. The piece titled Seminibus, In Requiem: Rest in Seeds is a collaborative piece, using Kantner's stoneware infused with Lake Ontario sand, and Davis' gorgeous, delicate drawings on tiles.
