Cecilia Cackley


Biography

Cecilia Cackley is a puppeteer, playwright and teaching artist based in Washington DC. She is a co-founder of Wit’s End Puppets and co-creator of the shows Cabinets of Kismet, Saudade and Malevolent Creatures. Her bilingual children’s plays have been developed at the Kennedy Center’s New Visions/New Voices Festival and presented by GALA Hispanic Theater. Cecilia studied teatro lambe-lambe with Gabriela Céspedes and has created miniature street theater inspired by a wide variety of themes such as creative women of the 20th century and traditional Mexican music. She has performed her lambe-lambe shows at both local and international events, including the World Puppetry Festival in Charleville-Méziéres, France. Cecilia currently teaches PreK visual art in a DC public school and has taught teatro lambe-lambe workshops for many ages, including a video lesson as part of the Kennedy Center’s Teaching Artists Present program.
