Carlos Tobón Franco

2018 Photography & Digital Arts Resident

Carlos holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering as well as a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Universidad de Antioquia (Medellín, Colombia). He has won grants in photography by the Medellín's Town Hall, The Institute of Culture and Heritage of Antioquia and the Ministry of Culture of Colombia. He works within documentary practices and personal narratives using medium and large format film cameras, portraying landscapes, persons, intimate and urban environments to show photographically social issues. This residency is made possible through a Transit Grant for Visual Artist gifted to Franco from the Minister of Culture. This grant is awarded three times a year to roughly 40 artists from Colombia, South America.
