Image of The Flower City Arts Center demonstrating their program

The Flower City Arts Center is saddened to learn of the racist actions in our own community against Daniel Prude. We are deeply disappointed that our city representatives knew about the mistreatment of their own citizen in March while claiming that "these things don't happen in Rochester." There is no excuse.

We wish to acknowledge the deep impact of racism in the greater Rochester community and across our nation. We stand committed to changing systems that contribute to oppression, bigotry, and inequality.

We understand violence and brutality have very real impacts on our mental, emotional, and physical health, particularly for our neighbors who are Black, and we offer our full support as a community arts center committed to providing art for all people.
